Dads get in free for the Big Reptile Event on Father's Day | Families
BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Birmingham Zoo honors fathers during Big Reptile Day on Sunday, June 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In recognition of Father’s Day, dads get in free at the Zoo on June 17 with the purchase of a full-price child’s admission.
The Zoo joins forces with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) in supporting the White House Fatherhood Initiative as part of a national celebration for fathers to attend zoos and aquariums across the nation.
During Big Reptile Day, guests can get up close and personal with the Zoo’s large reptiles. Keepers will measure and weigh the Aldabra tortoises in the Tortoise Yard, feed the alligator in the Alligator Swamp, give educational keeper chats and much more. Guests are also encouraged to bring their cameras for special photo opportunities with keepers and these unique reptilian creatures. They will also have the chance to join a Get Rhythm!® African Drum Circle in Trails of Africa. A variety of luxury automobiles will be showcased courtesy of DonohooAuto, such as a BMW, Lexus and Mercedes for dads to check out.
Fathers can also view artwork created by the Camp Alabama Storm Art Line Project that is on exhibit at the Kudzoo Café. This art display, which was done to express the feelings and gratitude of children affected by the April 27, 2011 tornadoes, is making its way through the state, and the Zoo will host it on Father’s Day.
