BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- FOX6 News announced today that "Good Day Alabama" has a new family member. Mike Dubberly will join the morning team as our newest co-anchor.
"I'm extremely excited," Mike said. "When this door came open, I wasn't sure it would be the right fit for me. But after filling in for Rick [Journey] for a couple of days, I just realized it was almost like my next calling. I can't tell you how excited I am to try to add something to the show, which is already a great show."
Dubberly is a Jacksonville, Fla., native with 27 years of broadcast TV experience. He started his career in 1985 at WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa, where he was a sports reporter and weekend sports anchor. That's where he crossed paths with Journey, who later came to that station as a news reporter. Dubberly has also worked at the old WBMG-TV in Birmingham and at KARE-TV in Minneapolis.
He's been back in Birmingham for the past 16 years, working here at FOX6 WBRC. We have seen his work outside of sports in the past year -- first as a news reporter during our coverage of the Apr. 27 tornadoes, then as a news reporter for our Bingo Corruption Trial coverage in Montgomery last summer.
FOX6 News would like to congratulate Mike on this new chapter at WBRC. FOX6 expects Mike to step into his new role July 23.
