"Can" your Jefferson County library fines in September
News

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC)- The Jefferson County Library Cooperative is offering residents a chance to "can" their library fines in September by donating canned or boxed foods.

Forty libraries will allow residents to pay off up to $10 in fines. For every item donated, one dollar in fines will be waived.

Even if you don't have any overdue items, the JCLC will be happy to take food donations. The food items will be given to area non-profit food group to help stock their food banks ahead of the holidays.

The "Food for Fines" campaign also coincides with the "National Library Card Sign-up Month." Cardholders can trade in their wallet cards for a keychain card or replace worn cards for free. During any other month, a replacement card would be $3.
